A “Thankful Thanksgiving” in Chicago . . .

A BIG SHOUT OUT to Praise Chapel Chicago,

Pastors Zac and Altethea Williamson along with their wonderful congregation provided a Thanksgiving Banquet for the homeless and hungry at Praise Chapel in Chicago.

This picture represents the best of humanity—the best of the Church.

“Friday  night November 16,  we hosted our second annual “Great Banquet” for the hungry and homeless at Praise Chapel Chicago. I (Pastor Zack)  snapped this picture as the team of volunteers prepared to selflessly serve those less fortunate.

They not only prepared, but served, prayed for, loved on, laughed with and in a few cases, cried with strangers (that quickly became friends).

Thank you to everyone who volunteered to serve and/or prepare food—all 37 of you! It was because of your love, grace, and sacrifice that many seeds were sown and 20 people responded to the invitation to come to Jesus.”

This is what happens when God’s people commit to the vision and unite in love.”  Pastor Zack

Praise Chapel Fellowship is so blessed to partner with such great pastors and congregations as this one in Chicago. Thank You Pastor Zack and Altethea and all who served this Thanksgiving meal with such love.

The Church Shooting in Texas

Another heartbreaking tragedy happened this past Sunday morning, while most of us were either in church or had been during those few hours.

The congregation at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas were probably singing or listening to a message much like we were doing that same morning.  A gunman came in, walked down the center aisle and came back up shooting, killing 26 people and wounding 20 more.

Please pause wherever you are and pray for them.

As a pastor myself,  the pain and suffering the families and friends of this congregation are going through right now is unimaginable to me. How would I feel if I was Pastor Frank and Sherri Pomeroy facing this tragedy, who along with so many members of the congregation, lost their 14-year-old daughter, Annabelle.

Many reading this are pastors. I’m sure all of us will reevaluate the security situation at our churches and I think that we must. Before our next service, I will meet with security workers, police or ex-military members of our congregation and reinforce the security at the church I pastor and all of the future Praise Chapel events.

But today, my thoughts and prayers are toward Pastor Frank and Sherri Pomeroy, the congregation along with their families.

What can I do? What can we do?

1. Let’s all commit to pray for them.

2. Send cards and letters of sympathy. Here is Pastor Pomeroy’s email, The church mailing address is, P.O. Box 115, Sutherland Springs, Texas 78161.

3. We have set up a donation site with Praise Chapel International (Click here) for those who want to join Praise Chapel in sending a gift to the pastors showing our support in a tangible way.

With all the news coverage and the depth of this tragedy, I know a lot of people will be sending cards and donations. I still want us to send something to them as a group of fellow pastors and Christians in Praise Chapel Fellowship.

I pray for all my brothers and sisters in the Lord today. I pray for God’s protection over you and your families and loved ones.

Larry Neville,

Thank you President Donald Trump

I was driving home last night and was able to listen to the State of the Union Address by President Donald Trump. I must say that I was encouraged by his words,  attitude,  and tone. I thought, “What is wrong with America having VISION?”  I would think that every American who listened to the speech by our President would be motivated.

Here are some of the closing words from our President’s speech:

“We are one people, with one destiny.
We all bleed the same blood.
We all salute the same flag.
And we are all made by the same God.

The time for small thinking is over.
The time for trivial fights is behind us.

We just need the courage to share the dreams that fill our hearts.
The bravery to express the hopes that stir our souls.
And the confidence to turn those hopes and dreams to action.

From now on, America will be empowered by our aspirations, not burdened by our fears –- inspired by the future, not bound by the failures of the past –-and guided by our vision, not blinded by our doubts.

I am asking all citizens to embrace this Renewal of the American Spirit. I am asking all members of Congress to join me in dreaming big, and bold and daring things for our country. And I am asking everyone watching tonight to seize this moment and —

Believe in yourselves.
Believe in your future.
And believe, once more, in America.

Thank you, God bless you, and God Bless these United States.

How can we help?

1. Pray for President Donald Trump and all of our elected leaders.

Christ followers are instructed to pray for our leaders.

“I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. As you make your requests, plead for God’s mercy upon them, and give thanks. Pray this way for kings and all others who are in authority, so that we can live in peace and quietness, in godliness and dignity” (1 Timothy 2:1, 2, NLT).

2.  Speak HONORING Words

“Show respect for the king” (1 Peter 2:17, NLT).

As Christ followers, we don’t have to agree with all our leaders do, but we should honor them with our speech and support the best we can.

3. Be RESPECTFUL when we post on Social Media

This video of Carryn Owens say a lot about the heart of his speech.

Let’s heed the call to ‘UNITE” in this “DIVIDED” Nation and all do our part to help make  American Great, Safe, and  Proud.

I join with you, President Donald Trump in saying, “God bless you, and God Bless these United States.”
